I always hear people mentioning Asian girls get eye lid surgery because they don't want to look less Asian. So are people saying that Asians can't have double lids and can only have mono lids? Most people in my family have double lids, are people going to think we all went through surgery? Yes we are East Asians.

Even if they surgery, they still look Asian and can't change what they are unless they go as far as Michael Jackson, which I doubt anyone would. Why isn't it betrayal when White people try to tan?

The eye lid surgery issue pertains to many Asian women who in fact do not have prominent upper eye lids. The surgery seems to make them more appealing to men both in their country and those from outside of their country. I disagree with women of various races trying to look more Caucasian. I don't know what the appeal is.

I totally agree with this, as though getting this surgery will miraculously turn an Asian person Caucasian. It's silly. People can choose to do what they want to make them happy about their appearance. At the end of the day you're still Asian just with unique looking eyes.

There are much more races than Asian and white. At least you mentioned Michael Jackson. Perhaps some mothers/fathers gransparents feel betrayed because their spawn is altering their God-given looks? I can imagine that happening in many instances.

Nobody is going to think twice about you and your family's eyelids lest they're plastic surgeons or Tyra Banks.

I don't think Asian girls do the surgery to look "less Asian". They likely do it for the most part tp look more Westernized and the stereotypical "pretty"- which can be different to everyone but they like American eyes. Big deal. Personally I think it's a scary sounding procedure and I would not do something so drastic myself.

Lastly, white folks don't tan to not look like their of the white race. Do you notice that even though a good few races may be called by the names of colors they instead refer to a group of people from common background with similar features? It's not to say white people are WHITE in color, black people BLACK. It's just not that way! People are all different tones and shades and mixes.

To put that more simply- people don't tan to look a different race, instead they tan to achieve what they see to be a more attractive look; ie: tanner skin, a glow perhaps. Perhaps they just like the warmth of the sun on their skin!

lmao.. i know. those people are stupid. i asked a question about something similar to this and said that i wanted to get that surgery so i can put mascara on easier, and no one said anything about betrayal.

i like half white half asian girls. They require no eye surgery and look sexy! (im white and prefer them over white girls, just my opinion).

and maybe its betrayal because they arent happy with what they were born with and are kind of being angry with how they look and not accepting their asian heritage.

the white people trying to tan thing is probably the same, let people do what the want but prepare to deal with annoying ignorant people saying things like you're betraying your race
