I live in a very, very rich area with a lot of privileged generous people, I am not one of the privileged, but I really need help and I don't know where else to turn. Do you think sending this letter to someone would help me? I am not running a scam or anything I just very hurt.

Hi there; First off, I would like to thank you for reading my mysterious letter. I don’t know you, and you don’t know me; so let me introduce myself. I am an 18 year old recent high school graduate just starting my first semester of college, I have a full time job, and I volunteer at a local hospital. My ideal career goal is to be an emergency room nurse. Many, very different people have told me that they think I should be an attorney, but I dream of being a nurse. I want to be a nurse because I want to help people and care for those in need. I have never done any drugs, been drunk, and I don’t smoke. I try and be the best person I can; I’m not perfect but you only get one life and I believe you should make the best out of it. However, I have somewhat of a road block in trying to be the best person I can. I have a deformity on my neck that developed when I was around 12. It is very painful to acknowledge and at this point I would rather not say what it is. It has only been mentioned to me three times; I can’t express in words the pain and humiliation I felt with the questions and gawking that followed. Even though it has only been mentioned to my face three times I have noticed people at school, at my work, and elsewhere that stroke their necks in my presence in the same spot as my deformity. It is not something that affects my health, but the humiliation affects me every day.


I don’t know how much longer I can go on with this deformity. My parents are not privileged and they struggled to pay the bills every month. I pay for all of my college and living expenses, spare rent, with the money that I make from my job. I am not asking for your sympathy; I am asking for an opportunity to help me change my life for the better and rid me of this road block that overwhelms me every day. It’s a tough world out there, and at one point or another we all need a hand to help get our heads above water.
