I have stretch marks on my upper out thigh, but below my hip. They aren't very noticeble, but I'd still like to get rid of them. Is it even possible to get rid of them?

To be fair it is not completely understood but this is a simplified understanding of the current state of knowledge.

it is thought that you get stretch marks because the skin stretches with some weakness of the lower skin layers (dermis) often due to other factors( e.g. hormones).

This then causes the epidermis (top layer) to thin, allowing you to see the blood vessels underneath.

If you catch them when they are red or just as they begin I am told by may patients that Bio Oil is helpful. In conjunction with this there are some very encouraging results with the FRAXEL laser for RED stretch marks.

Stretch marks are because the skin isn't moisturized enough and the skin is not growing as fast as the tissues underneath. There's no really good way to erase them, but you can prevent them with a good thick lotion with vitamine e, and lanolin. Stretch marks are essentially scars from your skin breaking because it could not accomodate being "stretched" from rapid growth or weight gain and sometimes for hormonal reasons.
